Our Vision

Preach Jesus | Make Disciples
Serve the City | Send out Leaders

At St George’s, we have a vision to preach Jesus, make disciples, serve the city, and send out leaders. We believe there is a part for everyone to play, as we pray, serve and give.

“But be sure to fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you.” 1 Samuel 12:24

We feel God is inviting us to be whole hearted disciples in 2026.

Resource Church

St George’s is a Resource Church in the Diocese of Leeds. This means we have a city-wide vision and are committed to church planting and giving away resources strategically in order to bless our city. As part of this, we aim to plant or revitalise a church every 3-4 years.

Our last church plant was in October 2022, when 19 congregation members were sent out to join St Peter’s Bramley. In 2021 we planted Holy Trinity Boar Lane, a new midweek plant to love and serve workers in the heart of the city. In 2020 we partnered with St Augustine’s Wrangthorn to plant Church@Hyde Park Corner to reach unchurched students. In 2018 we sent a team of 48 congregation members to join the existing congregation of about 25 at St Paul’s Ireland Wood.

One team,
Three Churches

In order to better facilitate and support mission, St George’s is now part of a team of 3 churches: St George’s, Holy Trinity Boar Lane, and St Augustine’s Wrangthorn. St Augustine’s Wrangthorn is also the base of Church @ Hyde Park Corner, which is a partnership between St Augustine’s and St George’s. The team is overseen by our Rector (Lizzy Woolf), each church has a clergy leader and our operations team works across all 3 churches.

The churches are very different but share values of relationship, generosity and creativity. We hope that each person will feel rooted in one church, and as we increasingly know and relate to the other churches, we’ll be able to work together and resource each other in various ways.
